Introduction
冬の海辺の別荘で、水を汲み上げる発動機の故障をめぐり、老いた両親と娘たちの会話が交わされる。散歩で出会った斑犬を父が恐れる姿から、佐和子は離れて暮らす間に進んだ父の老いと、訴えどころのない生活の哀愁を感じ取る。家族の何気ない一日を通して、時間がもたらす隔たりを静かに描いた短編。
English Note
At a seaside villa in winter, an aging couple and their daughters contend with a broken water pump and spend the day together. During a walk, Sawako sees her father recoil from a friendly spotted dog and realizes how much he has aged while she has lived apart. Through an ordinary family outing, Miyamoto Yuriko quietly traces distance, tenderness, and the sorrow of time passing.
